Why Matcha Green Body Butter?

When I read about the skin, hair and nails benefits of Green Tea, I knew we had to make it into a body butter. Upon further research into which Green Tea to use, I discovered the magic of Matcha! Matcha Green Tea is a sweet, sacred, ceremonial tea from the famous Matcha-producing region of Uji in Kyoto, Japan.
The preparation of Matcha starts several weeks before harvest. At that time, the tea bushes are covered so that they do not get direct sunlight. This makes the leaves grow slower and turns them a deeper shade of green. This extra growing time causes a high dos
e of amino acids to form. Only leaves from the top of the tree are harvested and laid out flat to dry and become "tencha (展茶)". Tencha is then de-veined, de-stemmed and ground (pressed) with a stone until it becomes the fine, bright green, talc-like powder we know as Matcha.

Let's talk about the endless list of Matcha's skin benefits! In addition to amino acids, Matcha Green Tea Body Butter fights the signs of aging! It can delay sagging skin, sun damage, age spots, fine lines and wrinkles. It contains a high amount of antioxidants, enzymes, phytochemicals, polyphenols, B vitamins, folate, manganese, potassium, magnesium and caffeine. The polyphenols in green tea help neutralize harmful free radicals, which can cause significant damage to the skin and accelerate the aging process. Antioxidants are our most powerful weapon in the fight against aging, with a certain class of antioxidants – known as catechins – being especially potent. In particular, the catechin EGCG is especially beneficial, and makes up a large percentage of the catechins in green tea. EGCG has also been found to reactivate dying skin cells!

Other antioxidants in the tea help prevent free radical damage, and encourage healing of cells – all of which fight signs of premature aging like age spots, wrinkles, and sun damage. The researchers also go on to say that ‘supplementation of skin care products with green tea may have a profound impact on various skin disorders in the years to come’ including the fight to prevent skin cancer!

But, anti-aging isn't all that Matcha Green Tea Body Butter has going for it. It's a powerful ally in the treatment of acne and pimples The catechins in Green Tea are antibacterial agents that help fight acne-causing bacteria. Catechins even help regulate hormonal imbalances in the body, one of the key causes of acne. In addition, the anti-inflammatory property of Green Tea helps reduce the redness and inflammation brought about by acne. As a skin toner, to draw out impurities, and eliminate black heads, Green Tea is the best! From reducing the size of pores to toning to giving your skin a healthy glow, Green Tea is Mother Nature's rapid hydration miracle.

People with skin conditions, such as psoriasis and rosacea, can also use this solution. The butter helps flush out skin toxins, heals blemishes and scars and reduces inflammation. It even improves the skin’s elasticity. The antioxidants and tannins (an astringent) in green tea help treat puffy eyes as well as dark circles. They help shrink blood vessels underneath the delicate skin around the eyes. This in turn reduces swelling and puffiness. In addition, the vitamin K in Green Tea helps lighten dark circles under the eyes.

Want a natural way to fight dandruff and have healthy, shiny hair? Treat your scalp and locks with Matcha Green Tea Body Butter. Green Tea contains a high amount of antioxidants that promote hair growth. The catechins in it have 5-alpha-reductase inhibiting properties that help block DHT (Dihydrotestosterone), one of the key causes of hair loss. It can even promote the growth of new hair and prevent common problems like dry scalp and dandruff.
